The leader of the Menashe movement in Manipur, India, PS Haokip, recites a brief history of the migrations of the tribe of Menashe as given to one of the tribal leaders in a vision several years ago. This is a perfect illustration of the way that, in the course of being driven from the Land, the understandings of the outcasts have been twisted and tortured over time. The massacre that he refers to at the beginning is described here: https://scroll.in/article/894324/25-years-after-naga-kuki-clashes-in-manipur-reconciliation-is-still-elusive.
